Biography

Dr. Lavinia Fiorentino is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza”, in Italy. She pursued a master’s degree in Experimental Psychology at CSU Northridge and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with specialty in Experimental Psychopathology, from the UCSD and SDSU JDP. She completed an APA clinical internship at Brown University, in Rhode Island, with specialty in Behavioral Medicine, and two post-doctoral training fellowships: one in Psychoneuroimmunology at UCLA, and one in Geriatric Psychiatry at UCSD. Dr. Fiorentino enjoys clinical work, teaching and research. Her research has been primarily in behavioral medicine and health psychology and has focused on sleep, cancer, older adults, quality of life and behavioral treatment development. She has co-authored over 25 scientific publications and book chapters. Her clinical research efforts were recognized by the American Psycho-Social Oncology Society with the 2013 Clinical Service Young Scholar Award for her insomnia treatment program implementation at the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. In her private life Dr. Fiorentino enjoys being a mom, dancing and the outdoors.
