Child and Adolescent Outpatient

Children's Outpatient Psychiatry provides outpatient mental health services with a primary focus on children and adolescents up to 18 years of age. The purpose is to assist children and their families with emotional, behavioral and learning problems. Children's Outpatient Psychiatry is a full-service, inter-disciplinary behavioral health clinic for children and adolescents.
The clinic treats a diverse population, offering comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, followed by inter-disciplinary team review to determine the disposition and the most appropriate treatment plan.

The Clinic Treats a Wide Variety of Problems Such as:
- Anxiety Disorders
- Psychosis
- Attention Deficit Disorders
- Eating Disorders
- School Phobias
and many other disorders. The majority of the treatment is time-limited.

The staff consists of licensed clinical social workers, marriage, family and child counselors, psychiatrists, and psychologists. In addition, the clinic has affiliations with various academic institutions in the area, providing training for a number of different disciplines.Children's provides training, in affiliation with U.C.S.D., S.D.S.U., U.S.D., and other institutions of higher learning, for child psychiatry residents, clinical social work, psychology, and marriage, family and child counseling interns. These trainees provide additional clinical resources for the program, as well as enhance and upgrade the knowledge base of all staff interacting with trainees and their institutions. If the staff is unable to communicate effectively with a non-english-speaking client, a referral is made to accommodate that need.

It is the policy of the clinic to accept insurance, certain managed care plans, private pay clients, Medi-Cal and Short-Doyle. |
| Appointments are normally scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some evening appointments are available by special arrangement.
