PGY1:

Inpatient Psychiatry (UCSDMC, VAMC) Medicine (Mercy, CHHC, Community Clinics) Neurology (VAMC, UCSDMC)
 
PGY2:
4-6 months 2 months 2 months 1-2 months 2 months
Inpatient Psychiatry (VAMC) Alcohol and Drug Treatment (ADTP) Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAPS) Psychiatric Emergency Clinic (PEC) Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry (VAMC, UCSDMC)
  • All residents participate in weekly half-day primary care/psychiatric clinic
  • All residents are expected to treat at least two additional psychotherapy outpatients
 
PGY3:
1-year outpatient psychiatry at the UCSD Outpatient Psychiatric Services
 
PGY4:
3 Chief Resident positions and senior resident positions at the VAMC, PEC, ADTP and others. In addition, senior residents are required to complete their Independent Study Projects and are encouraged to continue caring for selected outpatients carried from PGY2 and PGY3 years.
