Biography 
Dr. Meyer is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Medical School, and finished his adult psychiatry residency at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. At LA County-USC he subsequently completed fellowships in Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology Research, and was on the faculty of USC and Oregon Health Sciences University before coming to UCSD. Dr. Meyer has published articles and chapters on various aspects of antipsychotic psychopharmacology, the pharmacokinetics of atypical antipsychotics, metabolic effects of atypical antipsychotics, and health outcomes in patients with schizophrenia. 

Research Focus 
One focus of research is extending the current knowledge about metabolic issues with antipsychotic therapy through prospective studies. The other primary area of research interest involves examining mechanisms to improve health care delivery for patients with schizophrenia and other chronic mental disorders.
