Tanya Baker is a Clinical Research Associate at the University of California, San Diego in the department of psychiatry, and is the study coordinator for the Metabolic Research in Schizophrenia laboratory at the San Diego VAMC. Tanya graduated from UCSD with a B.S. in Psychology and a specialization in Social Psychology. While attending UCSD, she completed her Honors Thesis on the evolution of sexual assault under the guidance of Dr. Ebbe Ebbesen. She graduated with departmental and Cum Laude honors and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Psi Chi, Golden Key, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). While attending UCSD, Tanya worked as a Research Assistant for Dr. Eric Granholm in the Granholm Lab at the San Diego VAMC. Here, she assisted in research focusing on the neuropsychology and psychophysiology of aging in schizophrenic patients and also the effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Social Skills Training (CBSST) in alleviating the positive and negative symptoms of the disorder. As the primary study coordinator for the Metabolic Research in Schizophrenia Lab, Tanya’s current research focus is the metabolic syndrome in patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
