Sidney Zisook, M.D., Professor and Residency Training Director
Dr. Zisook went to medical school at Stritch-Loyola. He did his
residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and has
spent the better part of the last three decades in medical student
and residency education. His research career has been focused on
grief and bereavement as well as on clinical aspects of mood
disorders, but his real passion in academia is training young
clinicians and investigators to be the best they can be. Among his
many awards and recognitions are two research awards for bereavement
related studies, Best Doctor in America Award, and teaching awards
from the APA and the San Diego Psychiatric Society. He has been the
Residency Training Director at UCSD since 1995, after having been
Associate Training Director for 12 years before that.
Steven Shuchter, M.D., Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and
Associate Training Director - Director, UCSD Outpatient Psychiatric
Services
Dr. Shuchter went to medical school at University of Chicago and
completed his psychiatry residency at Yale. Dr. Shuchter has been
Director of Outpatient Psychiatry Services during his entire tenure
at UCSD. Dr. Shuchter's main area of research has been in Grief and
Bereavement and among his many publications is a book on Integrative
Psychotherapy. More recently, he has focused his scholarly
attentions on Impaired Physicians and their treatment. He has won
many clinical, humanitarian and teaching awards and has been voted
"Best and Most Supportive Teacher" by UCSD residents on four
separate occasions. Dr. Shuchter oversees the clinical and didactic
experience of the PGY-3s.
Kristin Cadenhead, M.D., Associate Professor and Associate
Training Director
Dr. Cadenhead went to medical school at University of Texas
Medical - Galveston and completed her psychiatry residency at UCSD.
Dr. Cadenhead is the Director of the Psychiatry Primary Care Clinic
at the San Diego Veterans Administrative Medical Center. Her areas
of research focus on prodromal and subsyndromal schizophrenia. She
has been Associate Training Director in charge of the Senior class
since 2001.
Christine Moutier, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor and
Associate Training Director
Dr. Moutier went to medical school at the University of
California, San Diego. After completing her residency in psychiatry
at UCSD in 1999, she began working on the Inpatient and Consultation
- Liaison services at UCSD Medical Center before moving to the San
Diego Veterans Administration Medical Center to teach on the
Inpatient Service and assume leadership of the PG-2 year.
Shannon Robinson, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor and
Associate Training Director
Dr. Robinson went to medical school at the University of
Louisville and completed a 4-year residency in psychiatry at UCSD in
2000. She has remained at UCSD running the Consultation-Liaison
service at UCSD Medical Center and has been Associate Training
Director, responsible for the Intern class since 2001.
Tracy Riley, B.S., Residency Training Coordinator
Ms. Riley joined the UCSD Department of Psychiatry as the Residency
Training Coordinator in 1999 and holds a Bachelors of Science Degree
in Business Administration. Her experience with residency training
began in 1994 as Coordinator for the Child Psychiatry Residency
Program located at Children's Hospital San Diego.
