Program Director's Welcome

Welcome to the UC San Diego Department of Psychiatry's Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program!

In 2005 the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) awarded specialty designation to Psychosomatic Medicine (PM). Soon thereafter the Council for Graduate Medical Education accredited programs of excellence to provide one year fellowship training in Psychosomatic Medicine. In 2015 the Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship training program at UC San Diego was awarded accreditation by the ACGME. Effective January 1, 2018, the name of the subspecialty was changed to Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

We offer training with a comprehensive range of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry settings-including ambulatory and inpatient. Rotations take place at both the VA San Diego Healthcare System and UC San Diego Health, and include women's reproductive mental health, collaborative care, oncology, palliative care, and inpatient consultation-liaison psychiatry. Clinical experiences are inter-professional and interdisciplinary. Our faculty are actively committed to teaching, research, and clinical services.

The program endeavors to train future Consultation-Liaison psychiatrists as clinicians, educators, leaders and researchers.

I welcome you to contact me with any questions.
