The Center For Addiction Science and Treatment (CeFAST) is a multidisciplinary consortium of clinicians, educators, researchers, and trainees. It is lead by Drs. Carla Marienfeld and Olivier George.
The Center for Addiction Science and Treatment (CeFAST), located at the University of California San Diego, combines expertise to tackle the addiction crisis impacting San Diego and beyond by addressing the urgent need for rapid and innovative basic science and clinical solutions from many scientific disciplines—from genetics to cognitive science—and from bench research to bedside care and community integration. CeFAST provides regional and global leadership in addiction science through groundbreaking research, transformative therapeutic strategies, healthcare excellence, public/private partnerships, and education of future leaders in addiction science. By uniting diverse fields and expertise at UC San Diego, CeFAST provides a network and infrastructure to join together one of the highest concentrations of addiction researchers, scientific thought leaders, clinicians, and educators among universities. The CeFAST has created synergistic opportunities for transdisciplinary and translational research on addictive disorders and their comorbidities, developing novel therapeutic strategies, innovative clinical care, and state-of-the-art education.
