Anh Tran
Anh Tran, DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner from Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of California, Irvine, and her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Columbia University. As a Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Scholar, Anh gained specialized experience in trauma-informed, culturally competent behavioral healthcare for underserved populations. She has provided psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic care to individuals with mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders in diverse clinical settings. Guided by her first-generation perspective and passion for health equity, Anh strives to ensure that all communities have access to compassionate, culturally informed mental health care. In her free time, she enjoys baking, exploring new boba shops, and traveling. She is excited to continue her work in advancing equitable mental healthcare and is honored to join the upcoming cohort of the UCSD PMHNP Fellowship. -
Sonja Partimann
Sonja Partimann is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner joining the UCSD PMHNP fellowship program. Having spent several years as an ICU nurse, Sonja developed a rigorous understanding of complex medical presentations and acute pathophysiology.
Grounded in a commitment to patient-centered care, Sonja brings both high energy and deep empathy to her clinical practice. She operates on the core belief that strong, authentic therapeutic relationships are the essential foundation for healing and recovery. Driven by a desire to create impactful change in the lives of those she serves, Sonja seamlessly blends her intensive clinical dedication with a motivated and personable perspective. She is eager to bring her passionate approach to the fellowship, aiming to empower her patients through compassionate, individualized treatment that meets them exactly where they are.
Outside of her professional work, Sonja stays energized through a mix of active and engaging pursuits. She enjoys hiking, running, and watching Japanese anime, which serves as a valuable creative outlet. Sonja is honored to join the UCSD community and looks forward to developing her clinical expertise alongside her peers."

Leticia Gutierrez
Leticia Gutierrez is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a strong foundation in psychiatric and forensic nursing. She has over fifteen years of experience in mental health care, beginning her career as a Psychiatric Technician and advancing to her current role as a Registered Nurse at Patton State Hospital. In this setting, she has provided compassionate, evidence-based care to forensically and civilly committed individuals, developing expertise in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration within high-acuity environments. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from Azusa Pacific University, where she deepened her clinical knowledge in psychopharmacology, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practice. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is committed to advancing equitable access to mental health services and addressing the unique needs of diverse populations. Her professional interests include complex psychiatric case management, community mental health, and holistic, patient-centered care.

Ankita Varrier
Ankita was raised in San Diego, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego. Motivated by a strong interest in the intersection of health and human behavior, she pursued an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Azusa Pacific University. She continued her academic journey at Azusa Pacific University, earning her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Professionally, Ankita has worked in multiple acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals across San Diego, caring for individuals with severe and complex mental health conditions. She is committed to serving the mental health needs of her community as a PMHNP fellow. Outside of her professional life, Ankita enjoys spending time with her loved ones, traveling, and reading. -
Marc Boulanger
Marc Boulanger is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and former United States Navy Nurse Corps officer. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2025 from the University of San Diego. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner trainee, he completed 1,680 supervised patient care hours across outpatient, emergency, pediatric, and telehealth settings. At the Department of Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System, he delivered trauma informed, evidence based care with a focus on suicide risk assessment, medication management, and treatment planning for mood, anxiety, and trauma related disorders, and he managed acute crises in the Psychiatric Emergency Clinic (PEC). In the Navy, he led inpatient behavioral health units as Charge Nurse in San Diego, California, Okinawa, Japan, and Jacksonville, Florida, and later served as Clinical Nurse Educator and Assistant Department Head at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, where he directed the hospital restraint safety program as a Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior facility trainer. Selected as a behavioral health subject matter expert, he supported three Operational Readiness Evaluations at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. His DNP project implemented a pharmacogenomics (PGx) education program that increased test utilization and strengthened providers’ confidence and competence in applying PGx to mental health care. He completed the Neuroscience Education Institute Master Psychopharmacology Program. He joins the University of California San Diego Adult Community Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Fellowship with a mission driven, compassionate, and rigorous approach to psychiatric care and a commitment to partnering with patients to improve mental health outcomes and quality of life. -
Keith Weiss
Keith Weiss completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2019) at Concordia University in Portland and furthered his education with a Master of Science in Nursing (2025) specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Starting his nursing career in the intensive care unit, Keith developed an appreciation of the complex physical presentations of his patients. Over time, his focus expanded to include the patient’s lived experience, the role of mental health, and the interplay between mind and body. Keith pivoted towards psychiatry, carrying forward his interests in physiology and applying the same curiosity to the often, ambiguous world of mental health. Within the field, he takes special interest in integrative psychiatry, mood disorders, consult liaison psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychosis, peripartum mental health, and the history of the DSM in the context of how psychiatry is practiced today. In his free time, Keith enjoys eating new foods, studying, playing video games, reading sci-fi, baking, and playing with his dog. He enjoys the outdoors - surfing, paddleboarding, skiing, biking, or scuba diving. Keith is honored to join the UCSD PMHNP fellowship program and learn alongside his colleagues. He aims to provide treatment grounded in evidence and provide individualized care to meet his patients where they are at.
