2024 NIH-funded UCSD Summer Psychiatry Research Fellowship for Underrepresented Medical Students

Summer in San Diego!

Come join us for a mentored 10-week research experience with investigators in the UCSD Department of Psychiatry!

Our program will help you acquire basic skills in translational research and will provide career guidance for students interested in Academic Psychiatry.

Weekly supervision with faculty will focus on clinical and research topics in Psychiatry. 

The Program provides round-trip travel costs, UCSD campus Summer Housing, $3000 stipend, Summer bus/trolley pass and lots of time to enjoy the area!

Candidates must be current 1st-year medical students in a U.S. medical school, and meet NIH criteria for eligibility:

  • U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the United States, or individuals who have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States (i.e., in possession of a Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551)
  • Be an individual from a racial or ethnic group that is underrepresented as consistent with NIH policy: Such groups include Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders. Also eligible are individuals with a disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
