Program Director's Welcome

Ellen LeeWelcome to the University of California San Diego Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program. First established in 1987, we are dedicated training leaders in the field of geriatric psychiatry. Our one-year, ACGME accredited fellowship provides trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful and rewarding career as geriatric psychiatrists in a supportive and collegial setting.

Fellows have access to outstanding clinical facilities and cutting edge research programs through UC San Diego Health, UCSD School of Medicine, the UCSD Stein Institute for Research on Aging and the San Diego VA Medical Center. We pride ourselves on having developed a training program that brings our fellows into multiple established interprofessional care settings, while also having the flexibility to tailor their year to satisfy individual clinical or research interests. The Program's faculty has years of teaching and mentoring experience. Our program leadership continuously reviews our curriculum to optimize the quality of the fellowship experience.

Our fellows receive the training needed to work collaboratively with other medical disciplines involved in the care of older adults with mental illness and to adapt to an ever-changing health care landscape. They also participate in the educational mission of our department by working with medical students and residents. Graduates of our program work in many different settings; including private practice, clinical academics, and research.

On behalf of myself and the faculty of UCSD Geriatric Psychiatry, thank you for your interest in our program. We accept applications for our fellowship program year round. If you have any questions about our fellowship program, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Ellen Lee, M.D..
