Each Friday faculty and fellows engage together in teaching and learning experiences to develop and build fellows' knowledge and expertise in geriatric mental health care. Topics include: diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders, Geriatric psychopharmacology, psychotherapy modalities for older adults (CBT, DBT, ACT), neuroimaging, neuromodulation, driving assessments, elder abuse, ethical considerations in geriatric psychiatry, eating disorders in older adults, ADHD in geriatrics, psychosis, anxiety, and mood disorders in older adults.
In partnership with UCSD Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program, our geriatric psychiatry fellows hold didactics every other Friday with our colleagues in geriatric medicine. The purpose of these learning opportunities is to promote joint teaching and training in shared, core areas related to aging and the care of older adults. Opportunities for cross-learning include formal didactics, journal club, and peer review of research and QI projects.
