Application Process
To submit an application, complete the following steps:
- Complete the NRMP match enrollment materials
- Complete the ERAS application
- Your application should have the following information:
- a personal statement (1 page)
- CV/Resume
- a dean's letter
- a transcript of your medical school grades
- USMLE examination scores (COMLEX Accepted)
- three letters of recommendation (we suggest at least one from psychiatry)
Other Application Processes
PGY2–4 Applications: We recruit PGY 2–4 positions only if an opening becomes availableInternational Medical School Graduates: Graduates of international medical schools, located outside of the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, are eligible to pursue accredited postgraduate training programs in this state when they have met the prerequisites established by the Medical Board of California (MBC). UCSD, Dept. of Psychiatry does not offer observerships. U.S. Clinical experience is preferred within the last 2 years.
After Submitting Your Application
After you are invited for an interview, you can use the self-scheduler in ERAS.
After you have scheduled your interview, you will receive a confirmation email with additional instructions/details. If you cannot attend your interview day, call to cancel as soon as possible, as we usually have a waiting list for our interviews.
