Psychiatry Residency Applicants

The Psychiatry Department takes great pride in our residents and we feel we can offer a challenging educational experience. We participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS)

The Selection

Each year we select:

  • 10 PGY1's for the General Psychiatry Program
  • 4 PGY1's for the Community Track
  • 2 PGY1's for the Research Track

More about the Program

The Interview

We invite approximately 90 applicants for interviews, based on the applicant qualifications (schools attended, Deans' letter, personal statement, letters of recommendation, grades, special interest and accomplishments). Our interview day consists of individual interviews with residents, faculty, and the Residency Training Director. There will also be a slide presentation describing our program, and tours of our hospital and outpatient training facilities.

The Interview Process

The residency selection committee reviews applicant files and the comments provided by interviewers to come up with a rank order list which is submitted to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Each year, we aim to enroll a balanced and diverse group of future clinical and research scholars.
