Developing Direct Brain Treatments
Welcome to the Functional Neuroscience Lab! Our research program is devoted to developing direct brain treatments that target neural networks, rather than symptoms in neuropsychiatric disorders. In our current studies, we are studying the effects of EEG-Neurofeedback on working memory in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a form of self-regulation. It provides a participant with current information regarding his/her brain activity.

Recent Updates
As of now, our lab is administering EEG-Neurofeedback to individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The study is a part of a larger effort within the UCSD Mental Health Technology Center to leverage technological innovations in mental health treatment.
Our current projects are all in different stages of development. All data has been collected for our study on EEG-Neurofeedback for individuals with schizophrenia (SCZ). This study is currently in the data analysis stage and we are excited to see the results. Both the EEG-Neurofeedback studies on MCI and mTBI are done enrolling subjects and we are currently continuing data collection.
