Cognitive Rehabilitation and Exposure Therapy

Cognitive Rehabilitation and Exposure/Sorting Therapy (CREST) incorporates exposure for sorting and cognitive training, which teaches skills to support/improve executive functioning: (i.e., planning, preparation, organization, abstract reasoning, cognitive flexibility, problem solving skills). The program aims to reduce distress and avoidance associated with discarding through exposure therapy, which involves repeated practice making decisions about whether to keep or discard items as well as confronting situations in which an individual experiences strong urges to acquire new items. This program is personalized based on the specific needs and preferences of each individual.
