Interventional Psychiatry Research Program

Depression and associated mood disorders affect tens of millions of Americans each year. While there are many effective treatment options available, not all treatments work for everyone and many people are resistant to conventional treatments. Through cutting-edge research, the UCSD Interventional Psychiatry Program is aiming to innovate new, more efficacious, and more rapid treatments leading to better clinical outcomes for our patients. Through research support from the National Insitute of Health, the Wellcome Leap Foundation, the Milken Institute, and others, we are conducting a range of clinical trials utilizing treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Esketamine, Magnetic Seizure Therapy (MST), and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Please follow the links below to learn more about our active trials and our research program.
